The Fairmont Chateau Lake Louise is one of the classic hotels built by the Canadian Pacific Railway to encourage tourism in Canada in the 19th and 20th centuries. There is shuttle service to and from theĀ Calgary International Airport. It is in Alberta’s Banff National Park.
If you can add a day or two to your trip, renting a car (or using tours within the Park) gives access to the nearby siteseeing:
- North on the Icefields Parkway to see Peyto Lake and the Columbia Icefield
- West on the TransCanada Highway to visit Emerald Lake, Takakkaw Falls and the Rogers Pass
- East on the TransCanada Highway to visit Banff and Calgary
- East on the Bow Valley Parkway to visit Johnson’s Canyon
